3 🔑 To Leadership
(1) Be Vulnerable
There are to many leaders who lead with closed hands. This causes teams and companies/organizations to be dependent on one individual. Being a vulnerable leader is being a leader who is comfortable being under the microscope. You’re able to let people see you for who you are, the mistakes you’ve made, the answers you don’t have, and much more. All in effort to lead other forward.
(2) Be Teachable
I’m a young leader. For me, that is hard to say out loud or write. I am a leader. Anyway, as I’ve sat in multiple interviews. Some with heroes who will never be known nor want to be known. Some with people whom I shouldn’t even be at the same table - let alone being interviewed by them. Something each person interviewing me said, “You’re teachable and others say you’re teachable.” To be a great leader you must learn how to be a great follower. No one can lead and never follow. It is impossible.
(3) Take Responsibility
As a leader you will have to make decisions. Some will be no brainers and others will take weeks or months to make. No matter the decision, each one has the opportunity to work or fail. To be good or bad. A great leader will always be the first to take the blame and the last to take the praise. If an idea completely fails, take responsibility. Don’t say things like, “well it was a decision we came to as a team” or “________ felt the same way too and that is why we moved forward.” NO! Take responsibility as the leader.
